I can’t even beat Son on my phone…
Son is SOOOO good at poker I can't even beat him on my phone. How disappointing!!
I met Tubby!
Last night Brian, Justin and I were at the Twolves game. As we were leaving (early) I spotted Tubby approaching. I held out my hand and said, "Hi". He shook my hand, smiled, said, "Hello" and that was the end.
I was pretty pumped and called my Dad right away to tell him ![]()
Anyhow, a cool way to end the evening!

Lots of basketball
Earlier this month Joe and I attended our first Gophers basketball game at the Barn. We had a blast. After being a season ticket holder with the Twolves for years this was a really cool experience. I hope to make it back for a Big Ten game soon.

On the 21st Darin, Don, Justin and I went to the Wolves game. Justin was the season ticket holder of the game and we sat three rows up in the bleachers. We had fun with the performance team and got to see Larry the Legend up close. It was a fun night.
Justin having fun with the ladies in the performance team
Don chilling by the Wolves bench before the game
Justin enjoying the view from the Wolves bench
Yeah, we were hanging with Larry for the night ![]()
Rock Band at Best Buy Eagan
Sammy and I play the game in this video. Pretty boring to watch as we're not too emotional but it's pretty fun. I don't like the design of the 'bars' to play with as the 'circles' that are used in Guitar Hero seem bigger and more friendly. I found myself really trying to time it more with the bars because they are so small. As for the drums, they are a lot of fun. I don't like the noise they make when you hit them. I think it could have been a little less noisy. Nobody was willing to sing for us. We had a little crowd of BBY employees watching us suck it up

A mini review of the hardware. The neck is pretty flimsy. I don't know what caused it but there was vibration in the guitar at one point. There is a switch on the guitar which switches modes on the "whammy bar". It looks nicer than the GH guitars but I like the build of my GH3 better than this one. The strumming switch has no click to it, it's very smooth. We both liked the thought of it before we played but after playing we agree that we didn't like the feel.

A thing of beauty…
I am down in Orlando for a conference. Justin and I are getting ready for the evening of poker and drinking ![]()
7-7-7 Prince concert…
Better late than never right?
Brian, Justin and I went to Prince's first Minneapolis concert in almost 10 years. As always the performance was simply AWESOME!
Also, Prince brings out an interesting crowd. There were couples of all ages, MANY good looking women and the oddballs! Look at the dude below, he had a very Elton John like outfit on.
Anyhow, I hope it's not another 10 years before he comes back again!
PS3 and the folding project…
![]()
Sony has bragged for a while about the power of their cell processor in the PS3. Well, it's really showing it's power with the Folding Project from Stanford. If you don't know anything about this project take a moment to read about it here. It's really amazing what can be achieved with this technology - cures for cancer, parkinson's, etc.
Have a look at the stats page to see just how much more the PS3's are doing that all the personal computers out there! Don, Sam and I are on a team for fun, there are a lot of them out there for Engadget, Joystiq and other communities but Don started one to honor his Wife's Aunt which is a good team for me to be on
The stat that really got me in all of this was:
"It's amazing that not only do proteins self-assemble -- fold -- but they do so amazingly quickly: some as fast as a millionth of a second. While this time is very fast on a person's timescale, it's remarkably long for computers to simulate.
In fact, it takes about a day to simulate a nanosecond (1/1,000,000,000 of a second)."
Now that's a lot of calculations!! If you have a PS3 run it overnight for a good cause!
